Matzah Ball Soup

Matzah Ball Soup

Often referred to as “Jewish penicillin,” matzah ball soup is the pick-me-up needed when you’re under the weather or during a cozy fall night. Boxed matzah ball mix does suffice, but we recommend adding schmaltz (rendered chicken fat), which is available at butcher shops and some well-stocked grocery stores), fresh herbs, and seltzer to get them just perfectly flavored and textured.

Sweet Noodle Kugel

Sweet Noodle Kugel

Kugels of all types are found on many Jewish tables. Whether potato or noodle, sweet or savory, it seems everyone has an opinion on kugel. With its slightly sweet, creamy, raisin-studded interior and the crunchy, buttery cereal topping, this recipe is a winner! Serve with a spinach salad with za’atar croutons.

Knafeh Muffins

Knafeh Muffins

Knafeh is a wonderful shredded phyllo dessert that's common in much of the Middle East. This dessert is that perfect combination of sweet, from the flavored syrup, and savory, from the gooey cheesy center. These mini knafeh are perfect bite-size snacks and a fun way to enjoy something that is more traditionally made as a larger cake.
