She’s been called Teacher Appreciation Week “SuperHero” and “The Tech Equalizer,” after being honored for her passion and dedication. Others know her as Apalachee Tapestry Magnet School Media Specialist, Ms. Beard, and Wild Kratt Facts Expert. Whatever the title, Roshanna Beard is making a difference in the lives of children through her love for learning, technology, and passion to make a difference. Roshanna worked as a 4th grade teacher and now, as a media specialist, works with all grade levels exploring books and technology. She has taken on additional responsibility with the preschoolers at Apalachee, designating extra time for every class in the Media Center. Roshanna's love for learning is infectious! She integrates PBS KIDS content into student learning in meaningful ways, and—due to her advocacy for intentional use of media and technology—has brought PBS KIDS ScratchJR to her entire school. She believes that every student deserves access to quality educational media and technology, and she does everything in her power to make that a reality.
